Accessible regardless of age or ability

Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility has achieved the highest national accessibility rating to date under the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC) program. With a score of 96 out of 100 points (96 percent), the RHF Accessibility Certified Gold rated building has set the Canadian benchmark for meaningful accessibility in the built environment.

Working closely with the Rick Hansen Foundation to improve accessibility within the built environment, the team at MGBA was responsible for the Architectural and Interior Design services for this single use four-story light office building. This project required extensive research and consultation to find a design solution that included an accessible space layout, lighting, and control. Signage and wayfinding were designed specifically for the deaf and blind, and the specification of appropriately contrasting finishes, millwork, and fixtures was included throughout the interior.
