Montauk Sofa

The Montauk Sofa project in Gastown involved the rehabilitation of a heritage structure, including facade rehabilitation and grant applications, to transform the original 1889 Hickey Block into a luxury furniture dealer. Working with WHM Structural Engineers and Donald Luxton and Associates Heritage Consultants, MGBA maneuvered through the complex process of redevelopment approvals and grants required to bring this historic building back to its original glory after nearly a century of long life, neglect and damaging modifications. The interior of the project featured converting this existing 2-storey structure into a singular, interconnected retail space that showcases Montauk’s stunning collection of high end furniture on Abbott Street in Gastown.
