Landmark Cinema Penticton

Landmark Cinema’s 25,000 s.f. Penticton location seats 1290 patrons in seven auditoriums. MGBA worked with Landmark Cinemas to develop this new ultra-efficient layout that features back to back auditoriums and utilizes the spaces below the stadium seating for circulation, service and storage. The dramatic 28’ high corner lobby serves as an interior show space for Landmark’s marketing efforts and lights up in the evening to mark the theatres presence in the downtown core.

Canadian Tire South Edmonton Commons

After a year of construction, we are pleased to announce the opening of a new Canadian Tire in Edmonton AB. MGBA are pleased to continue our long standing relationship with this superb client and look forward to offering Architectural services on future projects. Services employed in the production of this new facility included Design Development, Construction Documents and Contract Administration.

Snyatan Shopping Centre

“Snyatan or “the gathering place” is situated on Highway 97. With a compliment of national brand stores and unique independent retailers, Snyatan makes shopping easy and convenient. ” Completed in 2012 MGBA undertook the master planning, design development, and oversaw the construction of the Snyatan shopping centre in West Kelowna.

Fremont Village

Project size: 1,000 s.f. to 20,000 s.f. – Budget: $20m

As one of the largest retail developments in Western Canada, we are pleased to present the Fremont Village Shopping Centre.  Located in Port Coquitlam, this lifestyle centre is focussed around a pedestrian-oriented promenade and accommodates a wide array of tenant types and sizes, comprising almost 750,000 s.f. Currently under construction, Fremont Village is a premier mixed-use development that combines a well refined and historically contextual design approach, efficient site design, and rigorous sustainability standards, while successfully balancing pedestrian and vehicular interplay throughout the site.

Montauk Sofa

Project size: 6,000 sf – Budget: $5m

Located at 228 Abbott Street in the historic Gastown area of Vancouver, a dramatic rehabilitation and retrofit of the building was undertaken for Montauk Sofa to house their newest Vancouver location. MGBA undertook a complete interior renovation and structural overhaul within the historic Hickey Block building which included a new steel mezzanine, beautiful steel staircases, and architectural lighting considerations.

MGBA was hired by TEAJA Organic to create a series of concept kiosks for their up and coming franchise stores. Utilizing contemporary and organic materials, the TEAJA kiosks sought to create a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere for customers as they enjoy beautiful organic teas.

180 West Esplanade

Project size: 6,000 sf – Budget: $5m

180 West Esplanade was designed to respond to challenging site conditions at the intersection of West Esplanade & Chesterfield Street within the City of North Vancouver. The sweeping green roof featuring native plant species provides shelter for urban terraces and helps facilitate an intimate enclave in the midst of of one of North Vancouver’s busiest intersections. Awarded an Award of Merit in Design by the city of North Vancouver in 2010, complex building geometries and LEED® Certification have helped make 180 West Esplanade a welcome addition to the the urban fabric.

The Shops at Polson Park

This redevelopment of an existing retail centre involved a complete  rebranding of the development, including a challenging redesign of the architectural design and site .  This accommodated not only a new retail strategy and exterior focus, but the introduction of 16,000 s.f. of inline and financial pad buildings.

This work significantly improved project density and pedestrian access, and the new dynamic curb appeal of this development.


Okanagan Lake Shopping Centre

The Okanagan Lake Shopping Centre is a large retail centre located off the Okanagan Highway on the Westbank First Nation Lands. This project involved the masterplanning and design of several retail units, ranging in size from 1,000 s.f. to 20,000 s.f. This project presented some interesting challenges in respect to grade, and comprises an essential retail component for the ongoing development of the Westbank First Nation lands.

Governor’s Landing

“Built just off Highway 97 to service the rapidly increasing needs of the Central Okanagan, Governors Landing is where shopping meets convenience.” Completed in 2009, MGBA undertook the master planning, design development, and construction oversight for this extensive project.
